Plan to renovate Osmond Laboratory advances

The Penn State Board of Trustees Committee on Finance, Business and Capital Planning advanced a proposal today (Feb. 15) to renovate a portion of Osmond Laboratory at the University Park campus, constructing a 48,000-square-foot addition in support of the physics department.

Lenker’s commitment continues to help students attend geosciences field camp

It’s been decades since Earle “Skip” Lenker was a geosciences student at Penn State. But his impact is still felt. Years ago, he established the Earle S. Lenker Fund for Field Studies in Geology to help students participate in field camp, a unique learning experience where students travel to the western U.S. to witness the geological formations they’re learning about in the classroom. 

Ming Ma receives the international Nico van Wingen Memorial Graduate Fellowship

Ming Ma, a doctoral degree candidate in the John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering at Penn State, received the international Nico van Wingen Memorial Graduate Fellowship from the Society for Petroleum Engineers. The fellowship is given to exceptional doctoral students seeking a career in academia. Ma was nominated for his research on optimizing oil recovery and storage by utilizing carbon dioxide (CO2) injections, which could help reduce CO2 emissions.
