Join the College of Liberal Arts in a Q&A with David Roberts this Earth Day! Pre-registration is required.

David Roberts does what few climate reporters can do: manifest the ethical and economic urgency of climate solutions without over-simplifying their complexity. His climate reporting has appeared in Vox, Grist, The Chicago Tribune, Reuters, and The Atlantic. He now publishes climate-focused articles and podcasts at Volts. Trained in a philosophy PhD program—he almost came to Penn State—Roberts brings to his climate journalism intellectual rigor, ethical argument, and a critical approach to cultural dynamics and knowledge production.

You can listen to his podcast on Don’t Look Up with the film’s director, Adam McKay, watch a video or read an article on his top climate solutions, or learn about the social tipping points that could help bring them about.

Moderators:

Nora Van Horn – a changemaker working on equity, environment, and sexual violence, her work has been recognized with the Stand Up Award from the Rock Ethics Institute, and being chosen as the Philosophy and Liberal Arts Marshal. She created Penn State Forward to mobilize alumni to elect climate candidates to the Board of Trustees.

Mark Sentesy – a philosopher working at the intersection of nature, climate justice, technology, history, and ontology. A climate community leader and policy writer, he serves on the Carbon Emissions Reduction Task Force and directs the Liberal Arts Sustainability Council. You can hear about his work on this podcast.
