Abstract: Multi-angle light scattering (MALS) is an excellent technique for non-invasive characterization of macromolecules and a wide range of particles in solution. In combination with separation by size-exclusion chromatography (SEC), MALS enables the determination of molar mass distributions without relying on reference standards, making it invaluable for the analysis of polymers, proteins, and polysaccharides.

Join us for our first annual Penn State Digester Day! Anaerobic digesters are an opportunity to produce biogas (also known as "renewable natural gas") on the farm to use for heat, power, or other purposes, and are set to becoming an increasingly important source of renewable energy. Digester Day will host informational sessions from experts that detail the benefits of on-farm digesters opportunities for biogas production in the renewable natural gas market, potential funding programs, and incentives.

The Utility-Scale Solar Siting and Forests event will address land use and carbon sequestration tradeoff issues to consider when siting utility-scale solar arrays, focusing on potential sites that are currently forested. Solar technology is spreading rapidly due to declining costs, ease of installation, and growing public concerns about climate change. When solar projects replace forests they can be a source of environmental impacts including significant carbon losses. How do we account for these impacts, and what does a low-impact approach to siting solar projects look like?
