Natasha Miles is a researcher who specializes in the high-accuracy measurement of greenhouse gases. Her work provides essential data to assess the effectiveness of emission mitigation strategies, to understand the distribution of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and to relate these distributions to sources and sinks of these gases. She investigates earth-atmosphere interactions, ranging from the flux of carbon dioxide from forests, agricultural fields and urban areas to the air, to the flux of methane from oil and natural gas extraction, to continental-scale fluxes of carbon dioxide and methane, to air quality in cities.
