The co-inventor of Gorilla Glass has already been named to the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Inventors, and has just been named as the editor in chief of the Journal of the American Ceramic Society.

Akhlesh Lakhtakia, Evan Pugh University Professor and Charles G. Binder Professor of Engineering Science and Mechanics in the Penn State College of Engineering, has been recognized with two professional society awards. In his more than 40-year career in electromagnetics technology, Lakhtakia has received 43 honors and awards, authored or edited 27 books, refereed more than 940 journal papers and been named a U.S. State Department Jefferson Science Fellow.
