The Mid-Atlantic Sustainable Biomass Consortium: Bioproducts for the Bioeconomy

The Center for the Business of Sustainability's next sustainability research seminar features Dr. Evelyn Thomchick, Associate Professor of supply chain management; Dr. Dan Ciolkosz, Associate Research Professor of Agricultural and Biological Engineering; and Dr. Kusumal Ruamsook, Assistant Research Professor, Center for Supply Chain Research. This presentation will describe a new 5-year multi-institutional USDA grant focused on developing new bio-based products in the Mid-Atlantic region. Titled the "Mid-Atlantic Sustainable Biomass Consortium (MASBio)", the project is led by West Virginia University and combines research, education, and extension efforts aimed at developing new products and markets for biomass produced from biomass crops and forest woody residues. Several Penn State faculty and Extension specialists are involved in the project. The project is funded under USDA's Agricultural and Food Research Institute's "Coordinated Agricultural Projects" program (Grant #2020-68012-31881).
