In recent decades, Arctic sea ice coverage experienced a drastic decline in winter, when sea ice is expected to recover following the melting season. Using observations and climate model simulations, we found a robust frequency increase in atmospheric rivers (ARs, intense corridors of moisture transport) over Barents-Kara Seas and the neighboring central Arctic (ABK) in early winter.

Greater adoption of renewable energy technologies by households is a key component of decarbonization and energy transition goals. While existing literature has examined how sociodemographic characteristics, “green" preferences, and peer effects impact adoption of new energy technology, the role of behavioral preferences has not been adequately studied.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection published the report "Pennsylvania’s Solar Future Plan" in 2018 detailing how the commonwealth can increase solar generation by 2030. Since then, the solar industry within the state has grown steadily, and several initiatives have been launched to continue that growth. However, there are many policies and programs that could expand solar energy access that have yet to be implemented.

This September in Pittsburgh, the United States will host the first ever Global Clean Energy Action Forum — a joint convening of the 13th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and 7th Mission Innovation (MI) ministerial — along with partners in the private sector, academia, innovators, civil society, youth, and communities everywhere. The three-day event will feature a high-level plenary, topical roundtables with energy and science ministers from at least 30 countries, CEOs and experts, side events, this clean energy technology showcase, and other activities.

During Growing Water Wise: Introducing Green Infrastructure you will learn what green infrastructure is, what types there are, and how effective each system is in slowing down stormwater runoff.
