Pennsylvania is well situated to lead the country into the next age of energy development: clean, renewable solar photovoltaic (PV) energy. Finding Pennsylvania’s Solar Future was a planning project of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Energy Program’s Office (EPO) that brought together expert stakeholders from across sectors to explore whether Pennsylvania has sufficient technical and economic potential to increase instate solar generation to provide 10 percent of in-state electricity consumption by 2030.

The 20th Annual Conference of the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences IAMG2019 will be in State College, PA from Aug. 10th – Aug. 16th, 2019. The University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) is situated in Central Pennsylvania amidst the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. The university is located in the midst of a major unconventional shale gas production area, is in close proximity to coal and mineral mining areas, and is home to world-renowned climatologists and meteorologists.

Join us for the culmination of the eight-week summer research experience for undergraduates (REU) focused on the science of Drawdown. The symposium will include presentations and awards as well as four poster sessions, which will highlight the work of the scholars. Students from three REU programs — Multi-Campus REU, Kaust Gifted Student Program REU and Drawdown Scholars REU Program — will present posters on their summer research projects. Join us for a screening of “DisemPOWERed: Puerto Rico's Perfect Storm,” a film that examines the reasons why Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico in 2017, will premiere at Penn State. The screening will occur at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23 in Foster Auditorium in Pattee Library. Following the screening will be a panel discussion. It will feature the filmmakers, two visiting scholars from University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez and two Penn State faculty members. The screening and the panel discussion are free and open the public

The total production of Indonesian plastic waste is 263 million tons/year. Only small part of plastic wastes produced in Indonesia is recycled. Therefore a solution of using renewable materials that are more environmentally friendly is needed. One potential raw material in Indonesia to be utilized as an environmentally friendly bio-plastic material is Crude Palm Oil (CPO).

The U.S.-Israel Center of Excellence in Energy, Engineering and Water Technology (Energy Center) announces its Call for Proposals. This program was initiated by the U.S. Department of Energy, Israel’s Ministry of Energy, and the Israel Innovation Authority. One of the most important aspects of oil and gas drilling is to ensure well integrity.
