The Institutes of Energy and the Environment invites graduate students to apply for the 2021 Graduate Student Science Communication Workshop. It is open to graduate students of all disciplines, but the focus of the workshop will center around energy outreach and education.

The event will occur over two days, from 1–3 p.m. on both Tuesday, Sept. 21, and Wednesday, Sept. 22. The workshop will be conducted online via Zoom.

Registration is limited to the first 25 registrants. There is no cost to attend. However, attendees must be available and participate in both sessions.

The focus of the workshop is to train Penn State graduate students on how to make their research accessible to any audience. The workshop helps researchers share what they do, what they know, and — most importantly — why it matters to their audience. The workshop is facilitated by COMPASS and is grounded in the latest research on communication.
