SCC Expo to showcase student and community partner projects April 27

The Sustainable Communities Collaborative (SCC), the curricular engaged scholarship and outreach program of the Sustainability Institute at Penn State, is concluding the spring semester with a “Campus and Community Sustainability Expo” to be co-hosted by State College Borough from 5-7 p.m. April 27 in the municipal building at 243 S. Allen Street. Faculty, staff, students, community partners, Penn State administration, and the general public are all invited to attend.  

Sixty-three graduate students earn prizes at 2023 Graduate Exhibition

Sixty-three Penn State graduate students earned first-, second- or third-place prizes at the 2023 Graduate Exhibition, held March 20-24 on the University Park campus and online. More than 275 students from more than 65 graduate programs participated in one of five categories: research, design, performance, visual arts and video. 

NSF grant to investigate the role of macrobiota in carbon cycling in estuaries

A Penn State-led interdisciplinary team of researchers across six institutions has been awarded a $3.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation to investigate the role that macrobiota, such as clams, salt marshes and seagrasses, play in carbon cycling in estuaries.

Landscape architecture students visit Peruvian community to inform designs
