Advancing and Operationalizing Transformative Climate Justice Pathways in the US and Africa Tracks

This proposal aims to build equitable, long-term, cross-regional, and cross-continental partnerships between Penn State, Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the U.S., and other national and international partner institutions in the Caribbean and West Africa through the development of working groups to advance transformative climate justice pathways. We propose three interdisciplinary workshops with subsequent working groups within Penn State and our partner institutions: (1) Environmental Justice across the United States and Africa – sources, measurements, community/student engagement, and policy; (2) Improved prediction of weather and climate extremes for climate justice; and (3) Examining facets of justice in government and public climate responses and operationalizing transformative climate justice.
