Dr. Irmak’s research focuses on three major areas: (1) Developing degradable film formulations for agricultural applications by utilizing low cost, renewable, abundant, and byproducts or waste materials from various industries, (2) Hydrogen gas production from lignocellulosic biomass compounds by hydrothermal conversion processes, and (3) Developing metal-based supported catalysts for conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to value-added products including gas biofuel, hydrogen.
