Logan is a research technologist in the Environmental Contaminants Analytical Laboratory.
He is a graduate of Penn State Altoona with a BS in Environmental Studies and a minor in biology. Since joining the EESL team in 2021, Logan’s research has primarily focused on microscopic extraction of microplastics collected from sediment, water, and tissue matrices as well as analysis on extracted particles utilizing attenuated total reflectance (ATR) Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Pyrolysis gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). He has also prepared microbial, hydrocarbon, and pharmaceutical samples for analysis utilizing liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Outside of the lab, Logan enjoys fishing, hiking, and biking.
