Lauren M.T. Broyles

Lauren Broyles is a Ph.D. student in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a focus on Water Resources. Her research focus is on household water insecurity, examining the factors and circumstances that lead to reduced water provisioning, such that household water access, provisioning, affordability, or safety are reduced to affect overall health and well-being. Lauren has also conducted research examining the extent that which hollow fiber membrane household water filtration units used in SW rural Kenya contribute to realizing the SDG 6.1 clean water targets. Prior to pursuing her Ph.D. at Penn State, Lauren earned her M.S. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University in 2013 and worked with New International on their clean drinking water initiatives in Kenya.
