Learn from an expert during this informative webinar about the truths and myths of microbiological contamination in well water!

Well water is often thought to be free of microbiological contamination because of the incorrect assumption that the soil environment will naturally filter out disease-causing organisms. Heather Murphy, Adjunct Associate Research Professor, will present her research in Pennsylvania, illustrating that this is not the case. She will also speak about her large-scale health study in Pennsylvania called the "Wells and Enteric Disease Transmission Trial ( WET-Trial)." The study is trying to understand if well water treatment by ultraviolet light can reduce disease in children under the age of five who drink untreated well water.

The Water Cooler Talk Series provides a once-a-month event featuring invited speakers discussing water resources around the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Topics will range anywhere from climate to groundwater and anything in between. This series provides a chance for all people interested in water resources to gather and discuss current water-related work.

This event is being offered at no charge to participants. Registration is required to receive the link to access the webinar. Registrants will also receive access to the webinar recording.
