Henry Scharf is an Assistant Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Arizona. He graduated with a PhD in Statistics from Colorado State University, then joined the department of Mathematics and Statistics at San Diego State University for four years before moving to the UofA in 2023. His research focuses primarily on the development of new statistical methods for spatio-temporal applications in ecology including species distribution models and animal movement. He also works on developing new computational tools that provide approximate statistical inferential procedures for large data sets. Outside of research, some of Henry's other interests include hiking, bikepacking, and sewing.
