Impacts to water quality from excess nutrients and sediment are among the most complex and pervasive environmental problems faced today, not only in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania but across the nation and the globe. In the Chesapeake Bay watershed, Pennsylvania is faced with finding a path forward to meet requirements of the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for nutrients and sediment.
Pennsylvania agriculture plays a critical role in solving these challenges. Any solution must balance the Commonwealth’s interests in a vibrant agricultural sector, local water quality, and finite state and federal resources.
Towards this end, we would like to invite you to join motivated leaders from throughout Pennsylvania’s agricultural and environmental community as a follow up to the 2016 Pennsylvania in the Balance conference. In view of coming release of the Pennsylvania’s Phase 3 WIP, the goal of this conference is to provide a collaborative forum to provide input into the WIP and identify innovative implementation strategies that can help us ensure vibrant, productive agriculture while meeting water quality goals for the Commonwealth’s rivers and streams and the Chesapeake Bay.
The conference will be held at the Hershey Lodge beginning mid-afternoon on February 6 and finishing up by lunchtime on February 8, 2019. Please save the date and plan to attend. Additional details will be following shortly.
We hope you will join with us to identify opportunities and solutions, engage in productive dialogue, facilitate collaboration among stakeholders, and chart a course to achieve results.
