We will begin with an overview of the research facilities and expertise in the field of smart mobility at Penn State. The discussion will then focus on key research initiatives, including advancements in Cooperative Driving Automation for safety and system efficiency, infrastructure support for Automated Vehicle deployment, and the development of sustainable transportation electrification and efficient charging infrastructure.
Bio
Dr. XB Hu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Pennsylvania State University, where he leads the SmartMobility Lab. Prior to joining PSU, he was an Assistant Professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology and a founding member and Director of R&D at Metropia Inc. Dr. Hu’s research focuses on Smart Mobility Systems, Dynamic System Modeling, Active Demand Management, Autonomous Vehicles, and Transportation Electrification. He serves as the Committee Research Coordinator for the TRB Committee on Maintenance and Operations Management (AKR10) and is an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, the Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems, the Transportation Research Record, and The International Journal of Transportation Science and Technology.
