Nikhil Menon, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Penn State Harrisburg working in the areas of transportation and urban mobility – specifically in emerging mobility, travel behavior, and sustainable cities. 

Dr. Menon’s research is multidisciplinary, multimodal, and involves the application of both quantitative and qualitative approaches and frameworks to address transportation challenges faced in urban and rural environments. He is an expert on emerging and native data collection techniques including stated preference (SP) experiments and has demonstrated excellence in publishing with his works appearing in top-tier peer-reviewed transportation journals focusing on statistical and econometric modeling, and data analysis to support planning and policy research. He has been involved in extensive research efforts – leading and being part of projects at the federal, and state-level including funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). He is actively involved with various Transportation Research Board (TRB) Standing Committees, the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) – Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI).
