The Institute for Energy and the Environment (IEE) provides funding designed to spark and support innovative, interdisciplinary research across Penn State. Through programs such as the IEE Seed Grant Program, faculty can launch new projects, build diverse research teams, and generate the preliminary results needed to compete for external support. Our Research Financial Assistance Program offers as-needed support to help researchers respond to urgent needs, respond to gaps in funding, and increase competitiveness for major grants. These programs reduce barriers and add speed, scale, and flexibility to research projects.
