Dow is a global producer of polymers such as packaging and specialty plastics. Driving sustainability and circularity in the market is part of Dow’s corporate ambition. However, shifting from a linear to a circular economy has technical and infrastructural challenges. In this talk, Dr. Majumdar will provide an industry perspective on the opportunities, challenges, and potential solutions for driving circularity using plastic wastes as alternate feedstocks.

Bio – Dr. Paulami Majumdar is a scientist at Core R&D, Dow. She works on utilizing atomistic simulations to elucidate fundamental design principles for catalytic reactions, integrating computations with high-throughput experimental screening and characterization and implementing data driven strategies for materials and process research. Dr. Majumdar is also active in sustainability efforts and Dow-academia engagements and is the Dow PI on a collaborative project on plastic pyrolysis with Penn State University and Northwestern University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in the area of atomistic simulations and microkinetic modeling for heterogeneous catalysis.
