Penn State, University of Auckland announce seed-funded collaboration program

The two institutions have committed these seed funds for a second round, centered around specific United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State and the University of Auckland, New Zealand, have announced a second round of the Collaboration Program, a jointly financed seed-fund program with the aim to collaborate on research and education projects.

The first cycle of seed funding saw eight projects funded. The two institutions have committed these seed funds for a second round, centered on the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: SDG3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG4: Quality Education, SDG11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG13: Climate Action for a duration of 18 months.

Penn State and the University of Auckland are building on the strong institutional partnership that has linked the universities since 2018. As a result, the institutions are seeking proposals to foster collaborative, sustainable, self-supporting 1) research programs, and 2) integrated educational activities between university programs.

Interested early career, tenure-track or tenured faculty members are encouraged to review the seed-fund opportunity and apply through InfoReady at Penn State-Auckland InfoReady.  Grant recipients will have the opportunity to help shape the direction and future investment in this initiative at the level of the institutional partnership and contribute to the universities’ vision and strategic goals.

The proposal submission deadline is April 15.
