UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In its annual nod to the year of the University’s founding, Penn State will kick off the institution’s ninth GivingTuesday event at 18:55 on the 24-hour clock — 6:55 p.m. EST — on Nov. 27, getting a jump-start on the international day of giving that concludes at midnight on Nov. 28.

More than 180 campaigns will be raising support for initiatives representing every Penn State college and campus, in addition to a variety of outreach programs and alumni interest groups. For the first time ever, nearly a third of the fundraising efforts are being led by students, with 54 campaigns slated to showcase a wide array of both undergraduate and graduate student clubs and organizations.

GivingTuesday at Penn State continues to provide an opportunity to celebrate the University community’s wide range of projects and passions, and each year the event draws both increased participation from faculty, staff and students and increased support from alumni and friends. Last year, 377 community members from across the country signed up to be campaign champions by creating personal fundraising pages to help advance the efforts most meaningful to them. Together, this group secured more than 500 gifts and raised over $30,000 of the event’s overall total. Individuals interested in becoming campaign champions this year are invited to visit the event website beginning Nov. 13 to browse available campaigns. Faculty, staff, students and community members also can show their support on GivingTuesday at an in-person event, hosted by Penn State’s Student Philanthropy Network, to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 28 in the HUB-Robeson Center at University Park.

Updates on fundraising progress will be available at givingtuesday.psu.edu once the event goes live, and @RaisePennState will be sharing stories, campaign information and event updates on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). For more information or questions about GivingTuesday, contact the Office of Annual Giving at 888-800-9163 or givingtuesday@psu.edu.

Gifts made on GivingTuesday will advance the University’s historic land-grant mission to serve and lead. Through philanthropy, alumni and friends are helping students to join the Penn State family and prepare for lifelong success; driving research, outreach and economic development that grow our shared strength and readiness for the future; and increasing the University’s impact for families, patients and communities across the commonwealth and around the world.
