UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State launched a University-wide water initiative in the fall to help elevate Penn State’s impact and prominence as a center of excellence in water. One of the initiative’s first University-wide meetings will be held on Monday, May 11, running from 2 until 4 p.m. via Zoom.
The Spring 2020 Water Faculty Meeting will be an opportunity for all University water faculty, as well as other faculty, staff and graduate students interested in water and water-related research, education, and outreach and extension, to learn about recent water activities at the University, hear of upcoming events and ways to get involved, and explore ideas for collaborating with colleagues.

The event will feature lightning talks and breakout sessions designed to meet fellow water colleagues and share ideas for advancing water-related interdisciplinary research, education and outreach.
“This University-wide water initiative is contributing to all five of Penn State’s thematic priorities, including Stewarding Our Planet’s Resources,” said Andrew Warner, director of the Penn State Water Initiative. “This event is an opportunity to learn about, become more engaged in, and help shape and advance the emerging Penn State Water Community.”
Learn more about the Water Consortium proposal, recommendations for a Water Graduate Degree Program, efforts to form a water graduate student group, and upcoming initiatives and ways to get involved. During the meeting there will also be an opportunity to participate in breakout sessions focused on water education, extension, and exploring research ideas across a range of topics.
“We’ll provide an update on recent Penn State Water activities, refine future priority directions, catalyze new interdisciplinary collaboration, and continue strengthening the Penn State Water Community,” Warner said.
