UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — When it comes to combating climate change, much of the focus tends to fall on government, industry and individual action, but higher education is often a leader in climate research and solutions. Erica Smithwick, distinguished professor of geography at Penn State, will discuss a vision for a university-wide climate consortium and Penn State’s role in combating climate change during a seminar at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21. The talk will be broadcast via Zoom.

Smithwick’s talk is part of the Earth System Science Center’s spring 2021 Climate Dynamics seminar series. The series focuses on the cutting-edge climate research being conducted in the Earth and Environmental Systems Institute and the Climate Science dual-title graduate program in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State.
