Halfmoon Creek Watershed Tour

Date and Time

If you have ever been to Way Fruit Farm, then you have been in the Halfmoon Creek Watershed! A tributary to Spruce Creek, the Halfmoon Creek watershed is renowned for fly fishing, and is listed as a high quality-cold water fishery. However, it is listed as impaired due to agricultural sources of sediment. A Watershed Management Plan was recently approved, and funding is available for farmers to adopt a suite of new conservation practices to improve water quality. This tour will include stops at existing monitoring sites in the watershed that could be leveraged for new projects. Additionally, the tour will include a meeting at Way Fruit Farm with key partners, including the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Centre County Conservation District, and USDA-ARS. In addition to research activities, this tour could also spark some ideas regarding opportunities for engaged scholarship in classes you teach.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Gretta Tritch Roman, gst118@psu.eduno later than Monday, November 28
